About Royal Palm Beach

Royal Palm Beach is the established village that Westlake residents drive to for errands, ball games and evenings out. It grew up in the 1960s around a network of lakes and canals and today has around 40,000 residents, with State Road 7 and Okeechobee and Southern boulevards as its main commercial roads. From Westlake it is about 15 minutes east by Southern Boulevard or Okeechobee Boulevard.

The village’s pride is Royal Palm Beach Commons Park, about 160 acres built around a series of man-made lakes, the largest close to 20 acres. A wide great lawn hosts concerts and festivals, and the park has a playground, a splash fountain, fishing docks, walking paths and a disc golf course. It is a good place for a picnic and a sunset walk, and it is where the village stages its biggest celebrations, including the Fourth of July fireworks over the lake and winter concerts in December.

Across town, Seminole Palms Park is a county park of nearly 69 acres with lighted ball fields, playgrounds and picnic areas. It is also home to Calypso Bay Waterpark, which the county runs with a lazy river, water slides, a lap pool and an interactive water playground. Hours change with the seasons, so check the waterpark’s site before you pack the towels.

The village is also a practical stop for errands. Its stretches of State Road 7 and Southern Boulevard hold supermarkets, hardware stores, banks and medical offices, and village recreation programs keep a busy calendar of classes and community gatherings. Traffic on State Road 7 can be heavy at rush hour and on weekends, so allow extra time if you are heading to an event at Commons Park.

Royal Palm Beach also has a deep bench of everyday restaurants, from wings and ribs to Indian and Latin food, and our dining guide lists a few that locals recommend. For the full range of shops and services, search Best of Palm Beach County.
